Deisy Garcia ormahleechar nm ( omalicha m ) ( omalicham ), it’s a bit difficult,
ordinarily,
to manage huge numbers of people.

when these numbers of people amount to over 1,000,000 persons,
clearly,
the scale .. level .. and quality of management
required to achieve positive, tangible results
? becomes an issue
? is an issue
? and remains an issue
because of
the huge quantities / numbers involved.

when you add to this issue of high numbers
other factors
like :

? DIFFERENT LANGUAGES spoken among the people

? DIFFERENT TRIBES among the people

? DIFFERENT CULTURES among the people

? DIFFERENT VALUE SYSTEMS among the people

? DIFFERENT RELIGIONS AND LINKED WAY OF LIFE among the people

you sort of have
a recipe for PALAVER
especially where
some of .. or many of .. or all of .. the component groups feel that
? they have been unfairly treated
in one way or the other

AND THAT
? THEIR ATTEMPTS TO GET THEIR GRIEVANCES ADDRESSED
HAS / HAVE EITHER ? NOT BEEN PROPERLY RESPONDED TO
OR
HAS / HAVE IN FACT ? BEEN REBUFFED.

the above scenario seems to be a fairly apt description of the socio-political reality of the Nigeria nation, historically and currently.

for example,

??1️⃣ it has been rumoured that at the time
when the white, European, British folks who were ruling Nigeria
as their own colony / property? / lands?
decided to divide Nigeria into 3 regions
for administrative purposes

i.e to divide Nigeria into :

[1] an EASTERN REGION in SOUTHERN NIGERIA
comprising of
ALL AREAS EAST OF THE RIVER NIGER IN SOUTHERN NIGERIA

[2] a WESTERN REGION in SOUTHERN NIGERIA
comprising of
ALL AREAS WEST OF THE RIVER NIGER IN SOUTHERN NIGERIA

[3] a NORTHERN REGION in NORTHERN NIGERIA
comprising of
ALL AREAS IN NORTHERN NIGERIA
irrespective of whether or not
they are traversed / separated by
the RIVER NIGER
or the RIVER BENUE
or any other river
thus in effect
retaining the pre-existing NORTHERN NIGERIA ADMINISTRATIVE REGION as one, single ADMINISTRATIVE BLOCK

the NON-IGBO TRIBES of
the RIVERINE AREAS of the proposed EASTERN REGION
sought to be SEPARATED out from the proposed EASTERN REGION
into their OWN SEPARATE, DISTINCT RIVERINE DELTA REGION
but their request was turned down by
the white, British, European Rulers and Masters of Nigeria
at the time.

as a result,
the NON-IGBO TRIBES of the ( SOUTHERN ) EASTERN REGION
continued to remain a part of EASTERN REGION
for over 50? years .. or is that for over 100? years .. into the period
that
NIGERIA RECEIVED SELF-RULE / INDEPENDENCE FROM BRITAIN
until

during the 1967 – 1970 BIAFRA WAR / NIGERIA CIVIL WAR when
the then NIGERIA GOVERNMENT created 3 STATES
within the still-embroiled-in-civil-war BIAFRA / EASTERN REGION
and put in place this NEW ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE of :

[1] an EAST CENTRAL STATE consisting mainly of the IGBO / IBO TRIBE

[2] a RIVERS STATE consisting of NON-IGBO RIVERINE TRIBES and some RIVERINE? IGBOS / IBOS

[3] a CROSS RIVERS STATE consisting of NON-IGBO RIVERINE TRIBES although some rumours say that
some of the peoples in this area were
once historically referred to as
the AQUA IBOE people
and that
the term AQUA = WATER
and
the term IBOE = IBO = IGBO
and that
AQUA IBOE
actually means
the IBOS / IGBOS of the WATER AREAS
i.e the IBOS / IGBOS of the RIVERINE AREAS

??2️⃣ currently and for some time now, NIGERIA has administered itself using a structure of 6 GEOGRAPHICAL CUM ADMINISTRATIVE ZONES, namely :

(1) the SOUTH EAST GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONE

(2) the SOUTH SOUTH GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONE

(3) the SOUTH WEST GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONE

all in SOUTHERN NIGERIA and

(4) the NORTH EAST GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONE

(5) the NORTH WEST GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONE

(6) the NORTH CENTRAL GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONE

all in NORTHERN NIGERIA.

it would appear that for some time now

.. pre-dating NIGERIA’s attainment of SELF-RULE from BRITAIN in 1960 ..

some of the peoples of NORTHERN NIGERIA belonging to the NON-KANURI TRIBES, the NON-HAUSA TRIBES, the NON-FULANI TRIBES have been requesting for a MIDDLE BELT REGION to be created for them.

till date 2021 ( DECEMBER ), this request has not been granted.

some pundits have hoped that it need not take another CIVIL WAR in NIGERIA before NIGERIA looks objectively at the request on the strength(s) of it’s merit(s) and creates a MIDDLE BELT GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONE for them.

an upshot of so doing will be that NORTHERN NIGERIA will now have 4 GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONES while SOUTHERN NIGERIA has 3.

GEOGRAPHICAL BALANCE OF ZONES can be achieved by creating an additional zone in SOUTHERN NIGERIA. for example, the SOUTH SOUTH ZONE can be divided into 2 viz :

(1) SOUTH SOUTH EAST ZONE east of the River Niger and

(2) SOUTH SOUTH WEST ZONE WEST of the River Niger

with the net result that SOUTHERN NIGERIA also has 4 GEOGRAPHICAL / ADMINISTRATIVE / SOCIO-POLITICAL ZONES just like NORTHERN NIGERIA has 4.

regarding the subject matter of investments
by the Nigeria Administration
at the leading level of National Governance
i.e at the Federal level
i.e at the Federal Government of Nigeria level

it comes across that what seems to have happened is that
the country Nigeria received from
it’s former Colonial Ruler Britain ( the United Kingdom )
it’s former Colonial Master Britain ( the United Kingdom )
it’s former Colonial Owner? Britain ( the United Kingdom )
at the point at which it obtained
self-rule / self-governance / independence
i.e in October, 1960

a structure in which

a country has a capital
and
all key structures of governance
AND
ALL OTHER KEY INVESTMENTS BY GOVERNMENT AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL

ARE LOCATED IN THAT IDENTIFIED CAPITAL.

and so, Nigeria ran an administrative structure wherein
the capital
i.e the Federal Capital of Nigeria
was
Lagos

and
all key structures of governance
AND
ALL OTHER KEY INVESTMENTS BY GOVERNMENT AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL

WERE LOCATED IN THAT IDENTIFIED CAPITAL
i.e WERE LOCATED IN LAGOS.

by 1975? 1976? or thereabouts
i.e less than 20 years after self-governance began in Nigeria
Nigeria had

created a panel – the JUSTICE AKINOLA AGUDA PANEL
to take a look at the issues concerning a capital for Nigeria
and
that panel had come up with a recommendation that
a new Federal Capital for Nigeria should be created
and
that this new capital should be located in Abuja.

according to rumours,
JUSTICE AKINOLA AGUDA has been
the Chief Justice of Botswana, Southern Africa.

Justice Akinola Aguda hailed from the Yoruba tribe.
the Yoruba tribe is historically native to South-West Nigeria.
Lagos is historically and currently an integral part, parcel and component of Yoruba-land i.e South-West Nigeria.

the new capital Abuja is located in North Central, Nigeria
or if you will in the Middle-Belt Area of Nigeria.

some available information states that the native tribes to the Abuja, Federal Capital Area include the Gwari tribe and?other? tribes?
the Yoruba tribe is historically and currently a distinct tribe from
the Gwari tribe and any and all other tribes of the Abuja area.

so what was the reason ?
so what were the reasons ?
why by 1975?
about 15 or so years into self-rule
Nigeria decide to move it’s capital from Lagos to another place ?

One thought on “IT WOULD SEEM THAT ONE THING THAT NIGERIA MAY HAVE DONE CONSISTENTLY, HISTORICALLY AND TILL DATE, IS TO TAKE A UN-FAIR APPROACH REGARDING ? THE LOCATION AND SITING OF INVESTMENTS ? APPOINTMENTS OF PERSONS INTO HIGH OFFICE AND THIS MAY BE THE REASON WHY EVERYWHERE ACROSS NIGERIA, ALL THE TRIBES, ONE WAY OR THE OTHER MENTION THAT THEY HAVE BEEN CHEATED OR UN-FAIRLY TREATED IN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER (1).”
