FEMALE FOOTBALL

updating this post today
24 August, 2024

a fair number of days
.. actually [24 – 11 =] 13 days ..
after

the Paris Olympics 2024
which is deemed to have run
from 26 July, 2024
to 11 August, 2024
i.e
for a 16 day(s) period

ended

and
considering
the circumstance
that

the Olympics Female Football Competions
featured
at

the Olympics Events Proper

4 countries

in
3 groups
(viz : Group A, Group B, Group C )

making a total of
(4 countries × 3 groups =) 12 Football Teams

and
(12 Teams x 3 matches =) 36 matches

at the Group Stage

plus
the matches at the Quarter-Finals Stage

plus
the Third Place/Bronze Medal match

plus the Finals/Gold Medal and Silver Medal match

i.e at least 40 matches,

it would seem that
perhaps
to avoid an unwieldy compendium,
a pragmatic approach will be for

this post to approach the Olympics Female ( Women’s ) Football matches
from
the angle of following :

[1] the matches of
the absolutely superb female ( women ) footballers of my native country Nigeria,
viz :
the Super Falcons of Nigeria

[2] the matches of
the other teams in Group C where Nigeria was categorised
i.e
the matches of
Brazil, Spain, Japan

[3] the Quarter-Finals matches

[4] the Finals match

[5] the matches played by
the teams in the other groups
i.e
Group B, Group A
at
each relevant stage of the competition.

this approach
if imbued with

some measure of flexibility

and

an allowance for accommodating
some
bits,
odds and ends
here are there,

should
ultimately

yield a compendium of
the Female Football events from the distinctive / distinct view-point
of
this blog/blogger/writer/author

as some sort of follower of female football
located
in
Negroland Africa
i.e
Negro Africa
i.e
Sub-Saharan Africa
i.e
Sub-Sahara Desert Africa
i.e
Africa below the Sahara Desert
i.e
Black Africa
i.e
Dark Africa
i.e
Darkest Africa

and
who is very proud of the exploits of female footballers

( … particularly
of female footballers originating originally from
and/or
somehow linked to
the blog’s/blogger’s/writer’s/author’s native country Nigeria
in
female football

internationally i.e both in Nigeria and outside Nigeria i.e in Nigeria and in Africa, in the Americas, in Asia, in Australia and in Europe i.e in various geographical locations in the known world

historically
and
currently

despite the very many severe odds
they have had to
.. and sometimes still have to ..
face / overcome … )

Proceeding as indicated
one should probably start with

NIGERIA’s FIRST MATCH
i.e
THE MATCH OF 25 JULY 2024

although it is
of value
to note that

this particular match
and
some other matches

were scheduled for
.. and in reality ACTUALLY PLAYED ..
BEFORE

the 26 JULY, 2024 accredited? date?
for
the START
of
the Paris Olympics 2024
in
France, West[ern] Europe, Europe

as reflected
i.e
as seen
i.e
as shown

in
the screen-shot(s) below

[1] SPECIFIC MATCH : THE MATCH OF 25 JULY 2024
BETWEEN
CANADA
AND
NEW ZEALAND
( GROUP A )

RESULTS = CANADA 2 – NEW ZEALAND 1

[2] SPECIFIC MATCH : THE MATCH OF 25 JULY 2024
BETWEEN
SPAIN
AND
JAPAN
( GROUP C )

RESULTS = SPAIN 2 – JAPAN 1

SPECIFIC MATCH : THE MATCH OF 25 JULY 2024
BETWEEN
GERMANY
AND
AUSTRALIA
( GROUP B )

RESULTS = GERMANY 3 – AUSTRALIA 0

SPECIFIC MATCH : THE MATCH OF 25 JULY 2024
BETWEEN
NIGERIA
AND
BRAZIL
( GROUP C )

RESULTS = BRAZIL 1 – NIGERIA 0

having indicated
an outline
of
the general methodology
that

will
.. by and large ..

be adopted

in the most part

for this post

it is my view that
there is some merit in
noting that
the Super Falcons of Nigeria
had a linkage to a location called
Bordeaux
in
France, Europe.

@nigeriasuperfalcons : Respects and Greetings. with all due respect, the clear truth is that many super falcons footballers play top level football internationally e.g in Europe, USA, etc and they are respected, valuable players in the football teams they play in around the world. this means that as individual players and as a collection/group of players they possess what it takes to defeat all football teams from South America, Europe, Asia and anywhere else including North America, Australia and Africa. many of the super falcons have won top laurels on pure merit around the world. i need not mention names as anyone who cross-checks this statement via Google Search will see that it is the truth, all the same, for the purposes of this comment, examples include @nnadozie_chiamaka ( France, Europe ), @asisat_oshoala ( USA, Spain, England ), etc. @asisat_oshoala for example has played with some of the top players in Spain and she holds a top level football career record in Spain, so if the @nigeriasuperfalcons can utilise this type of insider knowledge of the players that make up the teams from Spain, Brazil, Japan and other technical knowledge available to them as professional footballers, there is no team in the world that they can not beat. my only fear is if the coaching team has the required technical knowledge and technical experience to bring out the best in the array of superb talents that make up the Nigeria Super Falcons team because for example the whole world watched how the England female team defeated the Nigeria Super Falcons via penalty shoot-out. this is football technicality. in the 90 minutes of the game, those babes of Nigeria had matched the babes of England in every area of the game/match .. and even surpassed them superbly in many areas. but when the game moved from talent and skills to technicality/penalty shoot-out the Super Falcons didn’t soar as high as they should have. it is true that ordinarily there is an element of luck in football and football penalty shoot-outs, however, where one team has carefully, consistently practised penalty shots and the other has not ( and has been depending heavily on the natural skills ➡️GO TO 2🟩

2🟩🟩✅️✅️ @nigeriasuperfalcons : depending heavily on the natural skills of the players ) this sort of technical training? tends to sometimes eliminate/reduce the impact of luck as in did in the Lionesses vs. Super Falcons match which Lionesses won via technical training practice effect. remember that Super Falcons beat Australia ? so, there is no team that Super Falcons can not beat. if the Super Falcons can use their experience in football they can win that Olympics Gold in female football. wishing the Nigeria Super Falcons all the very best. Cheers. Sam at https://www.thesamuelojekweblog.com, Nigeria, West[ern] Africa, Africa.

25 JULY, 2024

@nigeriasuperfalcons : Respects and Greetings.

although the whole Nigeria would have loved it
if Nigeria defeated Brazil,
it is also the reality that
the @nigeriasuperfalcons still have a chance to qualify for the next round of the competition
and
a 0-1 scores sheet against representatives of the historical South America football giants Brazil
is not a terrible result.
if a whole Brazilian national team can only defeat @nigeriasuperfalcons by a marginal 1-0,
then
the Super Falcons are really, really good.

hopefully, the Super Falcons can still move forwards
and
qualify for the next stage.

Best Regards.

@nigeriasuperfalcons , cc : 🏆⚽️ @sefutbolfem : Goodluck you all.

@nigeriasuperfalcons : very briefly, if the reigning world champions ( ref : @fifawomensworldcup 2023 ) fielding essentially the same team that won that world cup and the Europe women’s championships defeat you by a 1-0 margin .. especially after pepping up their team with folks like @alexiaputellas .. [ you can find out more about her from @asisat_oshoala who has held highest goal scorer position in her team in Spain ] .. then you are a very good team. Congratulations to @nigeriasuperfalcons for a respectable performance against the World and Europe Champions @sefutbolfem and also Congratulations to @sefutbolfem for proving that they merit their reputation. Best Regards to everyone at @nigeriasuperfalcons and @sefutbolfem

31 JULY, 2024

@nigeriasuperfalcons : Respects and Greetings. it is self-evident that the overall performance of the Super Falcons at the Paris Olympics 2024 ( .. against Brazil, Spain, Japan .. ) is respectable. there is however a general belief among many that given the level of skill, talent, ability and demonstrated capability in the Super Falcons line-up in the Attack, the Mid-Field and Defence, the results may have been better for the Super Falcons. one thing about results that are not up to what one hoped for is that .. sometimes .. it provides an opportunity to do some retrospective, introspective, analysis of one’s efforts, approach, attitude, etc with a view to achieving better results and improved performance in the future. if Nigeria can do this, it will be helpful. i am no Edson Arantes de Nascimento (Pele) (Brazil) or Roger Mila (Cameroon) or George Weah(Liberia), however, it is my view that if Nigeria Super Falcons had templated on the skills and abilities of it’s attacking force and mid-field and played a more predatory, more aggressive, more attacking type of football that would let the predatory, goal scoring instincts of the likes of @asisat_oshoala i.e Asisat Oshoala (👈🏿 🟩top goal scorer FC Barcelona Femeni [Spain] 2023? season, 🟩scored first goal in history of Bay FC [USA], etc, etc ), @rasheedatt10 i.e Rasheedat Ajibade, etc shine through more prominently the results may have been more goals for Nigeria. i stand to be corrected. from the results, the ONE LONE goal for Nigeria in the 3 matches was scored by @echeginiii i.e Jennifer Onyinye Echegini and she thus merits special kudos in this regards. also, the essentially defensive strategy adopted put a lot of pressure on the goal keeper i.e @nnadozie_chiamaka i.e Chiamaka Nnadozie and her goal keeping was .. overall .. superb and she thus merits special kudos in this regards. kudos too to the entire Super Falcons football team for a respectable outing. Best Regards.

@nigeriasuperfalcons : Respects and Greetings. with all due respect, the outing of the Nigeria Super Falcons at Paris Olympics 2024 is/was respectable. however, it is also a reality that when one is aware of the high level of talent, ability, skills and capabilities of some folks and those folks, for some reason, do not get results that reflect their already previously ( severally ) demonstrated capabilities, skills, abilities, talents then one will say/feel that the results are not what one hoped for. the truth is that many things can impact on a footballer’s performance/results e.g ( 👈🏿to keep it simple👉🏿 ) 🟢crowd support. i.e to say if a player gets on to a field and feels that the crowd is supporting her/him and not booing/jeering at her/him it has some sort of positive impact of the player psychologically and this sometimes reflects in the player’s output on the field. that is why it is sometimes important to understand 🟢psychology in football and 🟢the use of psychology in football. any team that sees names like ✅️@asisat_oshoala i.e Asisat Oshoala, ✅️@rasheedatt10 i.e Rasheedat Ajibade, ✅️@echeginiii i.e Jennifer Onyinye Echegini, ✅️@alozieee i.e Michelle Alozie, ✅️etc , ✅️etc, on the players list of the team that they are going to play against will be afraid .. or at the very least, take that coming match very serious. with all due respect, it is very likely that a tested, proven and seasoned football technical strategist who has these kind of highly respected footballing names in his/her squad will play attacking football & use the understanding of the psychology of football to tangible advantage. it will be good if in future, Nigeria can use it’s talents & advantages to Nigeria’s benefit. folks like @aitanabonmati i.e Aitana Bonmati, @alexiaputellas i.e Alexia Putellas, @salmaparalluelo i.e Salma Paralluelo know what folks like @asisat_oshoala@rasheedatt10, etc can do in the football field if you give them chance & the requisite footballing support from their own team. so, it is somehow surprising that Super Falcons has a respected, feared, formidable team & we i.e Nigeria can not use their skills & our understanding of football to win
