some time back in the day 2017,
ButterScotch ohbee nm ( obi nm ) ( obi m ), ( obim ),
i was opportuned to
travel
from NIGERIA
to GHANA.

it was a very illuminating exercise for/to me
in many ways
e.g
i came to be aware that
a flight
from LAGOS, NIGERIA
to ACCRA, GHANA
took about 45 minutes.

this was pretty interesting to me
as
i had
back in the day
in the 1980s
while following a chap
at his counsel
to fly
from LAGOS, NIGERIA
to ENUGU, NIGERIA

en route
the University Campus at NSUKKA, NIGERIA

as against
my then basic procedure of
travelling via

Ekene Dili Chukwu Luxurious Bus

from LAGOS, NIGERIA
to either ONITSHA, NIGERIA
or 9TH MILE CORNER, NEAR NSUKKA, NIGERIA
or ENUGU, NIGERIA

en route
the University Campuses at Nsukka or Enugu
( .. depending on which particular campus i was heading to at the time .. )

learnt that
the flight
from LAGOS, NIGERIA
to ENUGU, NIGERIA
took about 45 minutes.

this was back in the day
when
Nigeria still had
the NIGERIA AIRWAYS
and
operated the FOKKER F-27 and FOKKER-28 air-planes.

this emergent awareness
as to
the duration of
travel by flight
from LAGOS
to ACCRA made it occur to me
that,

in real terms,

geographically

ACCRA, GHANA

( and
by extension of the logic
GHANA
as a distinct geographical territory )

is not that so far away
from NIGERIA
as one may guess
considering that
it is a separate and distinct country from NIGERIA
and
does not share any contigous borders with NIGERIA.

ButterScotch UG nm,
i suppose it is natural
that
any folk travelling
forms impressions
of
the places/locations he/she traverses
during or related to
that journey

and
i guess
ButterScotch UG ormahleechar nm ( omalicha nm ) ( omalicham )
that
i did form some impressions of
virtually all the locations/places
i traversed
both here
in NIGERIA
and
in GHANA
linked to that trip.

one very striking thing
one very significant thing

was that
GHANA
issued us

a VISA ON ARRIVAL

right there
at

KOTOKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT,
ACCRA, GHANA

within a few minutes of our arrival.

to be very frank,
ButterScotch UG nnkeh nm ( nkeh nm ) ( nke m ) ( nkem ),
i did not

FULLY APPRECIATE

the great importance of
this policy,
this procedure
and
this practice

until

i was opportuned to travel

to UGANDA
from NIGERIA

a few days ago recently

and learnt
that

UGANDA in EAST[ERN] AFRICA
does not
operate
a VISA ON ARRIVAL POLICY
for travellers from
NIGERIA in WEST[ERN] AFRICA

as far as i can understand it,
ButterScotch UG nnmah nm ( nmah nm ) ( nmah m ) ( nma nm ) ( nma m ) ( nmam ),

it is
an ECOWAS thing
and
an EAC thing

ECOWAS = ECONOMIC COMMUNITY OF WEST AFRICAN STATES

EAC = EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY

as far as i can understand it,
ButterScotch UG nm,
what it is
is that

the ECOWAS COUNTRIES
have a superb arrangement
among themselves
that

enables
the issuance of
VISA ON ARRIVAL
to travellers from
ECOWAS MEMBER COUNTRIES

however
this superb arrangement
that
the ECOWAS COUNTRIES
have among themselves
that
enables
the issuance of
VISA ON ARRIVAL
to travellers from
ECOWAS MEMBER COUNTRIES
DOES NOT
extend to
travellers from
EAC MEMBER COUNTRIES

and also
ButterScotch oryie eentahnet nm ( oyi internet m ),
if i under stand the issues correctly,

simillarly,
the EAC COUNTRIES
have a superb arrangement
among themselves
that
enables
the issuance of
VISA ON ARRIVAL
to travellers
from
EAC MEMBER COUNTRIES

and simillarly also,
however,
this superb arrangement
that
the EAC COUNTRIES
have among themselves
that
enables
the issuance of
VISA ON ARRIVAL
to travellers
from
EAC MEMBER COUNTRIES
DOES NOT
extend to
travellers from
ECOWAS MEMBER COUNTRIES

and so

ButterScotch UG omalicha m,
if one is travelling
from

NIGERIA
and/or
ANY COUNTRY IN WEST AFRICA

to

UGANDA
and/or
ANY COUNTRY IN EAST AFRICA

one needs to
get his/her VISA

while still in
NIGERIA
and/or
THAT COUNTRY IN WEST AFRICA
that he/she is travelling from

BEFORE

DEPARTING
from NIGERIA
and/or
THAT COUNTRY IN WEST AFRICA
that he/she is travelling from

to

UGANDA
and/or
ANY COUNTRY IN EAST AFRICA

and

simillarly,
vice-versa

one needs to
get his/her VISA
while still in

UGANDA
and/or
THAT COUNTRY IN EAST AFRICA
that he/she is travelling from

BEFORE

DEPARTING from

UGANDA
and/or
THAT COUNTRY IN EAST AFRICA
that he/she is travelling from

to
NIGERIA
and/or
ANY COUNTRY IN WEST AFRICA

you know,
ButterScotch UG obim,
considering the

vital importance of

the ECOWAS REGION
and
the EAC REGION

to the

overall economic well-being
of
Negroland Africa
i.e
Sub-Saharan Africa

it may be of much value

regarding
enhancing
socio-economic interactions
between
these 2 regions
of

Sub-Saharan Africa
i.e
Negroland Africa

if

the ECOWAS COMMUNITY
and
the EAC COMMUNITY

can find a way
to
implement

VISA ON ARRIVAL
policy, procedure and practice

for

folks operating
between and across
these 2 Economic Regions of Africa

viz :
the ECOWAS COUNTRIES
and
the EAC COUNTRIES
