i suppose,
Segos Pumpkin a.k.a Resego Tshabadira ormahleechar nm ( omalicha nm ) ( omalicha m ),
that

any folk(s)
any where in the world

who have
or have had

access to

fairy tales,
folk tales
and
simillar lore

from

England
in
the United Kingdom (U.K)
in
West Europe i.e Western Europe
in
Europe

must have come across
tales like

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

ROBIN HOOD

JACK AND THE BEAN-STALK

CINDERELLA

etc,
etc,
etc

and they
must have come across
folk tales / fairy tales / folk lore usually linked to
other parts of Europe
e.g

HANSEL AND GRETEL ( Germany ? )

THE PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN ( Germany ? )

RUMPELSTILTSKIN ( Ireland ? )

and they
must have come across folk lore / folk tales usually linked to
African America USA i.e Black America i.e Negro America
e.g

BR’ER FOX TALES

BR’ER RABBIT TALES

and they
may have also come across a tale about
one lady
( .. described in the tale as a witch and as a wicked witch .. )
who possessed

a mirror that had some
metaphysical capabilities
i.e
magic powers

specifically :

(a) the ability to talk/speak
and
respond to questions from the user of the mirror
.. who in the instance of this Europe folk tale was/is the witch

(b) show the image of the most beautiful female in the entire land / kingdom

(c) show, detail, pin-point the exact physical geographical details of that most beautiful female
and
speak verbal directions as to how to get to the exact specific geographical location where she is.

perhaps.
perhaps not.

all the same,
i also suppose,
Segos Pumpkin a.k.a Resego Tshabadira ohbee nm ( obi nm ) ( ohbee m ) ( obi m ) ( obim ),
that

folks who may not have had such access
but
who wish to have some idea of the content of that tale
can use
Google Search
to achieve the objective.

in any case,
a key content of that story is
that

the wicked lady who owned it
would

PERIODICALLY
i.e
FROM TIME TO TIME REPEATEDLY

go to The Mirror
and ask The Mirror

if

she ( the wicked lady )
is
(still) the most beautiful female
in the entire kingdom / land

and

The Mirror would,
in essence,
reply

Yes
or
No

depending on the status of things.

the horrific part of this tale really
is that
if
the mirror said there is a more beautiful lady somewhere,
the wicked lady would hunt her ( i.e the more beautiful lady ) down
and
kill her
so that
she ( i.e the wicked witch ) would remain
the most beautiful female in the entire kingdom/land.

a rather gruesome tale.

rather macabre.

however,
that is the integral content of the tale.

this purpose for which
THE TALKING MIRROR was/is used in
the England, Europe folk tale
is
CLEARLY  COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM
the purpose for which
THE TALKING MIRROR was/is used in
the Negroland Africa folk tale.

FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PROVIDING
THOSE WHO MAY NEVER HAVE HEARD
ANY VERSION
OF
THE NEGROLAND AFRICA TALKING MIRROR FOLK TALE
BEFORE / PREVIOUSLY
WITH SOME SORT OF GENERAL IDEA
AS TO
THE GENERAL STORY-LINE OF
THE NEGROLAND AFRICA TALKING MIRROR
HERE IS A VERSION OF THE STORY
BELOW :

very, very many years ago
there was a king in Negroland Africa.

this king was a very powerful and mighty king
but
he was a fair, just and benevolent king
so his people loved him very much.

this king was very rich and had many children and grandchildren.

as time passed,
the king became old
and
the time came when he must hand over the rulership of the kingdom to
the first born male child from his first wife
i.e
to the prince.

however,
there was a problem.

and this problem
made it come to be that
the sooth-sayer of the kingdom
i.e
the chief magician of the kingdom
i.e
the chief herbalist of the kingdom
i.e
the chief metaphysicist of the kingdom
visited the king

with a view to seeking/achieving a resolution
of the problem
in the interest of the kingdom

while the proceedures for the coronation/crowning of the new king were in full gear

and told him ( i.e the aged king ) that

the gods of the land had sent him ( i.e the chief metaphysicist )
to tell the king
that

if
the kingdom was to remain mighty in war
and
be dreaded in war by all other kingdoms near, far and wide
that

the new king to be crowned must marry the most people female
in all the entire lands near, far and wide

BEFORE HE ASCENDS THE THRONE AS KING

otherwise
they would be very easily defeated in the next war they are involved in
and
their entire people would be treated very badly
as defeated people.

the king told the metaphysicist that
in fact

the spirit of war / the god of war “Nmuo Aya”
had
appeared to him
when he ( i.e the king ) commenced the coronation / crowning processes for his son
and
had told him the very same thing

and
when he had asked the spirit of war / the god of war “Nmuo Aya”
how
it could be possible for

a living human being i.e a mere human being
( not a god or a spirit or metaphysical being )
to

identify the most beautiful lady in all the entire lands
talk less of
locating her physically
and
then going ahead to marry her

the spirit of war / the god of war “Nmuo Aya”
had
told him
that

the prince must
first go to

the land of spirits

and
fetch

a talking mirror

from there

and that

with this talking mirror
the prince would see the most beautiful lady

and
obtain the directions as to her geographical location.

the king had then replied saying that
the land of spirits is a dangerous place
for a mere mortal to go to
and that
very few of the people who had left their homes headed towards the land of spirits
had ever returned.

he had also told Nmuo Aya, the god/spirit of war that
the prince had never left the kingdom before in his entire life
and
anywhere he went in the kingdom he went with servants
so
he ( the king ) was not sure he ( i.e the prince ) would succeed
on a journey to the land of spirits all alone by himself

the spirit of war had then made
3 items to manifest/appear
from nowhere,
viz :

(1) a gold sword

(2) a gold bow and gold arrows

(3) a gold bag

and
had told him ( i.e the king ) that

the items must first remain in the room of the king for seven days
and
on the eight day,
in the early morning before the sun rises,
he ( i.e the king ) must call the prince
and
hand over the items to him
and
bid him good journey

with the instructions that :

(i) the light emanating from the sword even when sheathed
would point the direction
for him to go

and that

no being or creature
.. spirit or human or animal ..
can survive a strike from that sword

so he should use it with full assurance
whenever the need arises
during his journey

(ii) the arrows and the bow never miss their target
and that
no being or creature
.. spirit or human or animal ..
can survive a strike/shot from that bow and those arrows

so he should use it with full assurance
whenever the need arises
during his journey

(iii) he must eat and drink ONLY food and drinks from that bag
and
all he needs to do is to

speak out the name of the food or drink he wants
and
the bag would yield it

anytime of the day or night that
he wished to eat food or wished to drink.

the chief metaphysicist then thanked the king for
the king’s candour and forthright speech

and told him that

he had come to the palace that morning
because
the spirits had appeared to him that very morning
and
told him to rush off to the palace
and remind the king that

it is three days since
the god of war had appeared to him
and that
he should endeavour to keep to the instructions.

the king had been surprised
because
he had not told the metaphysicist exactly when
Nmuo Aya, the spirit of war had appeared to him
and
that very morning
indeed made it 3 days since Nmuo Aya, the god of war had
appeared to him.

TO KEEP THE TALE SHORT
I WILL SKIP
THE ENCOUNTERS AND ADVENTURES OF THE PRINCE
IN THE LAND OF SPIRITS

it will suffice for our purposes here
to narrate that

the young prince embarked on the dangerous journey
as directed
and
returned after
seven days and seven nights
with the powerful mirror.

it may also be of value to
narrate that
with the aid of the mirror
the young prince identified the most beautiful lady in all the entire lands/kingdoms

and
located her physically
and
they got married
and
thereafter
he was crowned king and she was crowned queen.

the tale tells that
they both lived to good old age
and
had many children and grandchildren and great-grand-children
and that
there was peace, progress and prosperity in all their land
during their lifetime
and
their kingdom remained undefeated
and
the mightiest kingdom in war
during their lifetime.

so,
i guess

the differentials are clear

thus :

(1) in Negroland Africa the TALKING MIRROR was used to MARRY the most beautiful female

(2) in Europe the TALKING MIRROR was used to KILL the most beautiful female

different strokes for different folks.

whatever.

⬛⚫@segos_pumpkin : Respects and Greetings, Resego.

while it is the observation that

some Negroland Africa communities have
folk lore / folk tales
pertaining to

the Talking? Mirror,

it is also noticeable
that

the Negroland Africa tales
regarding
the Talking? Mirror

are fundamentally different

in content

from
the Europe Snow White Talking? Mirror tale

in general content

as seen
for example
in

the differential that

the Negroland Africa Talking? Mirror
is

according to folk lore of some communities

owned by Kings
who used it to

identify and locate the most beautiful female(s)
in their community

as wife/wives for their son(s)
i.e the Prince(s)

or

as wife/wives for themselves

UNLIKE

the Europe / Aryan Talking? Mirror
which was
owned by a lady
who used it to

identify and kill off

any female more beautiful than her.

perhaps, another case of different strokes for different folks.
