there have been rumours and rumours
about

the negative impacts
that

some Beauty Pageants
have had

on the female participants
at such contests.

the thing about rumours
is that

they are not empirical evidence.

and
neither are rumours proof beyond reasonable doubt.

and
neither are rumours circumstantial evidence.

so
one should recognise rumours as rumours.

and in subject matters such as this
the internet sometimes helps.

in fact,
it is sometimes a perception that
if
folks would generally use the internet beyond
ogling pornography

.. beyond ogling
the sometimes unhygienic
and
potentially disease spreading content
i.e
potentially illness spreading content
that sometimes passes as pornography on the internet ..

the vast potential of the internet
as

for example
an easily accessible library / data base for information
on many topics worldwide
can be put to use.

in any case,
to stay on the subject matter

there was something on the internet
back in the day
about a young lady

.. is/was here name Chidinma Okeke ? ..

who had participated in a Beauty Pageant
sponsored by
a broadcasting outfit in Onitsha

and won

and then was
at some point
asked to return the car she had won as a prize.

there was some rumour
about

the lady indicating that
she would hold a press conference or so
and
tell it all

and
gun men going to the venue
to scatter the press conference
and
thus prevent the lady from speaking out.

gun men ?
scattering a press conference ?

a press conference not organised by a radical politician
who is speaking out against the undesirable activities of
some very powerful folks in the corridors of power
but
a conference organised by a young lady
who wishes to tell the world
all about a Beauty Pageant she had won ?

the mind boggles.

in Nigeria
happenstances sometimes make the mind boggle.

if memory serves correctly,
a lawyer entered into the matter
and
eventually her car was returned to her.

and
there was this rumour
back in the day

.. around when
Omasan? Buwa? won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Pageant
and thereabouts ..

the rumour rumoured that
some folks or some entity
had advertised or put out information that
they were going to host a Beauty Pageant

and
many beautiful Nigeria ladies
had applied.

according to the rumours
the entity organising the Beauty Pageants
flew the ladies from Nigeria to Brazil
as part of the Beauty Pageant proceedures.

Brazil ?
yes, Brazil in South America.

the rumour rumours that
when the ladies got to Brazil, South America
the entity organising the event
SEIZED THEIR PASSPORTS
and
thereafter forced? .. coerced? .. them
into
shooting a pornography movie video shoot

after which
they were given some money
and flown back to Nigeria.

so
all told,
it is probably best
.. from the viewpoint of retrospective thinking ..
for
any Nigeria female who wishes to participate in a Beauty Pageant to
be very careful

to check and confirm that
the Pageant is sponsored / held by
a responsible management

so as to avoid
a situation where
she later regrets getting involved in the Beauty Pageant
for one reason or the other.

or
is this derived surmisation out of order ?
is this derived surmisation wrong ?

is this derived conclusion out of order ?
is this derived conclusion wrong ?
