🟩🏹 @segos_pumpkin : back in the day here in Nigeria in the 1970s i.e many years ago as 1970 A.D to 1979 A.D is around about ( 2025 – 1970 = ) 55 years ago to ( 2025 – 1979 = ) 46 years ago, the music of Barry White, Isaac Hayes, George Mcrae, Johnny Nash, Marvin Gaye and Teddy Pendergrass was very popular among folks who inclined to the R&B genre sort of music and to the mellow mood sort of music even though the 1970s was to a very large extent THE DISCO ERA OF MUSIC WORLDWIDE featuring groups as diverse in their DISCO RHYTHM as LE CHIC, ABBA, etc and ditto for the solo artistes from JAMES BROWN to the emergent MICHAEL JACKSON. one thing noticeable about some of the vocalists is that they had a voice so special and so rare that very few folks, if any, could copy of replicate with efficacy their vocal delivery. Barry White seems to belong to this category. if my memory serves correctly, he retired of his own free will gracefully of his own accord at a time he was held in high esteem musically worldwide having evinced a sterling, successful music career AND THEN AFTER A FAIR NUMBER OF YEARS HE CAME OUT OF RETIREMENT AND MANIFESTED A SUCCESSFUL COME-BACK during which he released superb stuff like RIO DE JANEIRO, LOUIE LOUIE, etc. that’s a feat too. a rare feat. i remember wondering back in the 1970s if Barry White was of Nigeria genealogy when i first heard that his song PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH because that phrase was very common i.e very often used i.e very frequently used in Nigeria colloquialism i.e everyday conversations among Nigeria residents and Nigeria citizens back in the day in the 1970s. i never really found an informed definitive answer to that query although i remember some folks rumouring that folks like PETER KING ( PETER OBA ) the instrumentalist ( ref : his work on tracks like the popular MR. AND MRS. JONES ) did have a Nigeria genealogy. personally, i have often found the phrase PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH to have TWO FOLD VALUE, e.g as : (1) a SPUR .. SPUR ON .. TRIGGER .. ENCOURAGER .. to folks to HAVE THE CONFIDENCE OF THEIR OWN CONVINCTIONS and to DEMONSTRATE BY THEIR VISIBLE ACTIVITY/ACTIONS A BELIEF/CONVICTION in THEIR OWN AVERMENTS 🟩➡️2
🟩➡️2 … [ CONTINUED FROM 🟩➡️1 ] … 🟩🏹2 @segos_pumpkin : and as (2) an ADMONISHER .. a REPRIMAND .. a REBUKE .. to HYPOCRITES who profess one stuff and then do stuff completely different. and for some, i find myself wondering to what purpose you have arrowed this post. Best Regards. as always, yours truly, Sam at https://www.thesamuelojekweblog.com, Nigeria, West[ern] Africa, Africa.
