it’s very un-fair, in-fact also very wrong and actually a cheating to say that men can and/or should marry women much younger than them but women can not and/or should not marry men much younger than them (1)

and there is no logical reason or logical basis
for that posture and/or argument.

i mean,
where is the common sense and/or intelligence in that statement ?

going by what we have all seen here in Nigeria,
here in Nigeria there was a very famous gentleman called
Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.

his name is synonymous with
● the fight by Nigeria to achieve self-rule/independence from Britain
● early journalism in Nigeria
● early politics in Nigeria
● politics in Nigeria uptil the time of his death
● education in Nigeria at Secondary School & University level
● entrepreneurial initiative and entrepreneurial endeavour
● etc

this world-famous gentleman at over 60 years
( .. wasn’t he 68 years or 69 years old ? at the time .. )
married a “new” wife
– a young lady who was at the time maybe in her 20’s? or less?

is a CHILD

● 12 years and 11 months and 29 days old

19 years and 11 months and 29 days old
is a TEEN-AGER

● 19 years and 11 months and 29 days old
to
29 years and 11 months and 29 days old
is a YOUTH i.e a YOUNG PERSON

● 29 years and 11 months and 29 days old
to
39 years and 11 months and 29 days old
is a MATURE PERSON

● older than 39 years and 11 months and 29 days old
is an OLD PERSON

therefore,
if for example,
a man who is 36 years old marries a woman who is 24 years old
it means that a MATURE PERSON is marrying a YOUTH / YOUNG PERSON

and
also for example,
a man who is 45 years old marries a woman who is 28 years old
it means that an OLD PERSON is marrying a YOUTH / YOUNG PERSON

and if this is acceptable to all and sundry

then why,
for example,
can’t
a woman who is 36 years old marry a man who is 24 years old ?

as all it simply means is that

just as in the case of a man doing likewise,
here also,
a MATURE PERSON is marrying a YOUTH / YOUNG PERSON

and
also for example,
why can’t
a woman who is 45 years old marry a woman who is 28 years old ?

as all it simply means is that

people should stop all these their wicked murmurings against women.
people should stop all these their wicked maligning of the character of women.

people should treat women fairly.

what is the meaning of that nonsense “ cradle-snatching ” ?

if a 45 years old man marries a 21 years old woman,
it is alright
but
if a 45 years old woman marries a 21 years old man,

rumour mongers will jump up and start rumouring around everywhere that

● things are happening in this world o
and that
people should come and hear o because
a 45 years old woman has just “cradle-snatched” and married a 21 years old man

what type of nonsense is that ?

and yet when they see real actual physical cradle-snatching

here in Nigeria,
there are tribes and cultures and places
in which and where
… historically and presently ..
men who are aged from 30 years old and more
ROUTINELY MARRY
girls who are as young as 10 years old, 11 years old, 12 years old

that is the real cradle-snatching.

yet when all these rumour-mongers see it
they will shut up their rumour-carrying mouths.

in fact,
let me tell you something,
and
that thing is this :

if for a truth
● people truly want to be fair to women
● men truly want to be fair to women

then if
historical, cultural and traditional practices allow
a 60 years old man to marry an 11 years old / 12 years old girl
as his wife

then if
those
historical, cultural and traditional practices
● are not being un-fair to women
● are to stop treating women un-fairly

then those same
historical, cultural and traditional practices should also allow
a 60 years old woman to marry an 11 years old / 12 years old boy
as her husband
