FIRST,
it is important to acknowledge
that
any entity that sets up a website
e.g
an interactive social media website
has the right to
determine how subscribers to that website can use that website.
this reality should be noted
as GRANTED
and GIVEN.
let’s move on a bit from there.
if and when
such a website
indicates
it’s COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
to
it’s USER’S
that website is also in order.
WHERE AN ISSUE ARISES
.. at least as far as the User is concerned ..
IS
WHEN
THE USER HAS OBEYED ALL GUIDELINES
AND
THEN FINDS THAT
HIS/HER ACCOUNT HAS
EITHER
BEEN CLOSED DOWN
OR
HAS HAD ONE RESTRICTION OR THE OTHER
PLACED ON IT.

it is my view that
it would amount to
a waste of
your time
and

for this post to
begin to look at stuff like :

ON THE AVERAGE
OVER 20,000 PEOPLE WORLDWIDE
USED TO COMMENT ON MY ACCOUNT
PER DAY
SO
SOMEONE AT THE WEBSITE
GOT JEALOUS
AND
SHUT DOWN MY ACCOUNT
IN ENVY”
the complaint may well be true
however
the key questions include,
for example :
(1) now that
the page/account has been
shut down
by the website owner,
is there anything that
the affected user
can do
to get that page/account up again ?
(2) even if
by some mechanism,
the user gets the page/account back,
what is the guarantee
that
after some months?,
the website and it’s staff
will not
take the page/account down again ?
the 2 questions above
are also applicable to the instance
where a page/account has NOT been shut down
but
there are some restrictions on it.
very candidly,
it remains my view that
ultimately,
at some point
the user will
necessarily
have to manifest COMMON SENSE
and decide the
best way forwards for her/him
given
the arbitrary placing of restrictions on her/his accounts
and
the arbitrary shutting down of her/his accounts
repeatedly
perennially
WHEN SHE/HE HAS FLOUTED NO KNOWN GUIDELINES
and arrive at
a conclusion and/or decision
that is
acceptable to her/him
concerning her/his
continued subscription
to a website that
repeatedly
turns her/his subscription to the website
into an exercise in futility
via
their unfair repeated restrictions on her/his account(s)
and
their unfair repeated closing down of her/his account(s)
and
decide for herself/himself
the value(s)
the gain(s)
the benefit(s)
of continuing to hold an account
at a website
that
has demonstrated repeatedly
and
continues to demonstrate regularly
via
their unfair repeated restrictions on her/his account(s)
and
their unfair repeated closing down of her/his account(s)
that
having and maintaining
an account
at that website
invariably amounts to
both
an absolute waste
and
a severe waste
of
the time,
the energy,
the effort,
the creativity
invested in
one’s posts at
that website
and
linked to one’s usage of that website.
