Resego ohbee nm, if my memory serves correctly,
i started doing a Happy Birthday thing
on the internet
to folks i follow on the internet way back in 2012?

that’s all of ( 2021 – 2012 = ) 9 whole years now.

initially, i wasn’t following whole lots of people via the internet
.. just one folk essentially really ..
and then over time i began to follow other folks

and at a time i was virtually doing
one Happy Birthday thing maybe two .. three .. or four .. every month.

and i figured it was best i stopped so i stopped.

i still remember straight off by memory
without looking at any aide-memoire
dates like

● January 17
● March 27
● August 4
● September 26
● November 8

and some others like

● January 8,
● February 13 now changed to February 11,
● April 11,

which are sort of rather not easy to forget as i either
►personally know someone else born on that same date
►personally know some one else born around about that date

►personally remember a significant event that happened on that date
e.g
here in Nigeria on Friday, 13 February 1976,
the Nigeria Army General Murtala Mohammed who ousted the erst-while Nigeria Ruler and Nigeria Army Head of State General Yakubu Gowon via (blood-less?) military coup in 1975
and then
became Ruler and Head of State of Nigeria was killed at/in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria in a (bloody) military coup on 13 February, 1976.

and it was a major event to my impressionable mind
as a young kid at school
in secondary school
that day when it happened.

i guess a major reason why i always remember that day is that
that day the school principal ( a Yoruba tribe Nigerian ) announced that
all ibo/igbo tribe Nigerian students must not leave the school compound that day
and
instructed the senior boys to keep a look out on all igbo/ibo students and ensure that none of the day-students leaves the school premises that day unless accompanied by a person that that student can identify as a trusted and known guardian.

Segos, the school that i went to is a Yoruba school in Lagos, Yoruba-land, Nigeria.
90% of the students were Yoruba tribe Nigerians.
90% of the teachers were Yoruba tribe.
Segos, i am ibo/igbo tribe.

Resego, in 1966 a Nigeria Army General J.T Aguiyi-Ironsi ( ibo/igbo tribe ) who was Military Ruler, Supreme Military Commander and Head of State of Nigeria at that time had been killed in the second military coup of 1966.
after he was killed, there were waves of killings of igbo/ibo tribe children, women and women in Northern Nigeria ( Hausa-land / Fulani-land ) and Western Nigeria ( Yoruba-land ).

the killings are sometimes described as ethnic cleansing, pogrom, genocide, holocaust, etc.

the Yoruba tribe principal didn’t want a repeat of it so he mounted additional guard at the 2 gates leading into the school compound
and
announced that all Yoruba students should be watchful for the welfare and interest of the igbo/ibo students.

incidentally, Segos my dear, before that date of 13/02/1976
i heard never ever heard about the waves of killings of igbo/ibo tribe children, women and women in Northern Nigeria ( Hausa-land / Fulani-land ) and Western Nigeria ( Yoruba-land ).

and it was when was i started asking questions that
one or two yoruba tribe senior boys called me to a corner and quietly explained to me what had happened
and
why i should stop running about all over the place
and
rather go and stay in a place where i can be easily seen by anyone around in case anything wants to happen.

so, Segos nm, if a folk happens to be born on 13 or 11 February,
i guess i will just sort of naturally remember that birthday.

anyway, as i was saying
i’d really rather not do any Happy Birthday thing on the internet anymore.
and where i can avoid and/or dodge doing it i will.
although the truth also is that i have
despite this evolved personal policy
and since adopting it as a basic modus operandi on the internet
gone ahead and done a Happy Birthday thing or two.

i sometimes did a be-lated Happy Birthday thing on the internet too.
and i’d really rather not do any belated Happy Birthday thing on the internet anymore.
and where i can avoid and/or dodge doing it i will.
although the truth also is that i guess i have
despite this evolved personal policy
and since adopting it as a basic modus operandi on the internet
gone ahead and done a b-elated Happy Birthday thing or two.

as for those dates, i mentioned, i guess that,
in no particular order,
folks like :
► Nicki Minaj ,
► Coco ,
► Beyoncé ,
► Michelle Obama ,
► Maserati ,
► Cherokee d’ass ,
► Lisa Stansfield ,
► Serena Williams
may remember those dates.

in any case, Segos Pumpkin nnkeh nm,
if someone is telling you any stupid thing,
perhaps you should just simply tell them

TO MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS.

after-all, it is you Segos Pumpkin ( a.k.a Resego Tshabadira ) that
i am following
NOT THEM
so

THEY SHOULD MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS.
