regarding the

eeboe / eboe / iboe / ibo
i.e
eegboe/ egboe / igboe / igbo

tribe of West(ern) Africa, Africa
language words for

Good Morning

it is my current view that

the eeboe / ibo / eegboe / igbo tribe
has
so deeply integrated and assimilated
some words from
the English Language
into
everyday spoken eeboe/ibo/eegboe/igbo
that

the original eeboe/ibo/eegboe/igbo words
for these stuff
have virtually faded out from

everyday ordinary usage
while
the English Language words for these stuff have taken over
quotidian usage i.e daily usage
e.g

ugbo-ani i.e ugbo-ala i.e ugbo-ana
=
boat-land i.e boat (of) (the) land
=
car i.e motor car

ngaji = spoon

ugodi = key e.g door key, car key

and that
the words

Good Morning
( and also
Good Afternoon
Good Evening )

are further paradigm examples of this type of integration and assimilation of a Europe native language into a Negroland Africa native culture.

having said that
let me also indicate that
i am aware that

the
traditional historical
Onitsha Eeboe/Ibo/Eegboe/Igbo
greetings

in the morning
to a person who wakes up from sleep

are :

iteta go ula ?

i.e

ee tehtah goh uhlah ?

thus
for example

an Onitsha grandmother
may say
to her grandchild
called Junior, for example,

in the morning hours
around 06:30 am or 07:00 am
when he wakes up from sleep
and
she sees him heading to the bathroom to take a bath

: Junior, iteta go ula ?

i.e

Junior, ee tehtah goh uhlah ?

to which the grandchild
then replies

: ehh. Granny, Good Morning.

TRANSLATIONS
iteta go ula
=
ee tehtah goh uhlah

ee = i = you
tehtah = teta = wake .. wake up
goh = go = (*i’m not sure of the exact translation for this*)
uhlah = ula = sleep
ehh = onomatopoiea = yes

so,
Salma nnkeh nm ( nnkeh m ) ( nkeh nm ) ( nkeh m ) ( nke nm ) ( nke m ) ( nkem ),

iteta go ula
=
ee tehtah goh uhlah
=
you wake / wake up {**from**} sleep
=
have you woken up from sleep

by the way,
Salma nm,
to put the picture as it is

i guess that perhaps
the equivalent of the
Onitsha Eeboe/Ibo/Eegboe/Igbo dialect

iteta go ula
=
ee tehtah goh uhlah

in
at least
one other Eeboe/Ibo/Eegboe/Igbo dialect
is

ibola chi ?
=
ee bor la chee ?

the circumstance of
an absence of a direct translation
of

the French and English

Bon Matin = Good Morning
Bon Apres Midi = Good Afternoon
Bon Soir = Good Evening

captured my attention

and

i came up with a direct equivalency
using the
eeboe/ibo/eegboe/igbo words
for

morning
afternoon
evening

greeting(s)

good

thus :

Ekene Ututu =
Ehkehneh Uhtuhtuh =
Greeting(s) Morning
Greetings [of/for/in the] Morning

Ekene Efifie =
Ehkehneh Aefeefeeae =
Greeting(s) Afternoon
Greetings [of/for/in the] Morning

Ekene Ngbede =
Ehkehneh nngbehdeh =
Greeting(s) Evening
Greetings [of/for/in the] Evening

Ezigbo Ututu =
Aezeegboh Uhtuhtuh =

Ezigbo Efifie =
Aezeegboh Aefeefeeae =
Good Afternoon

Ezigbo Ngbede =
Aezeegboh nngbehdeh =

thus saying

Salma nm,
sometime after
.. maybe a year or 2 years or more ..
after i had averred to Serena Williams
via
some of her internet pages
that

the eeboe/iboe/eegboe/ibo language does not have a direct equivalency for

Bon Matin
Bon Apres Midi
Bon Soir

Good Morning
Good Afternoon
Good Evening

i ran into a Praise Worship music track in which the singer was singing

Jesus, Ututu Oma

which in that dialect speaking of igbo/ibo
means

Jesus, Good Morning

i found it rather intriguing

Serena Williams

Serena Williams

Serena Williams

Serena Williams

Serena Williams

and
i raised the phrase “Ututu Oma” in a discussion with
an Onitsha eeboe/ibo/eegboe/igbo person

mentioning that
prior to that instance
i had never heard that phrase before
and
wondering if perhaps the singer had originated the phrase himself

to which the person
responded that

the singer did not originate the phrase

and that

Ututu Oma

is in fact

an old greeting used by earlier generations gone by in Onitsha
and
that it was the historical traditional Good Morning greeting in Onitsha before the English language Good Morning took over.

Salma Paralluelo ormahleechar nm ( omalicham ),
for a while
i expounded this to other folks
until
i ran into another Onitsha folk
who averred that
the other Onitsha folk had given me wrong information

and that

neither was

Ututu Oma

an old greeting
used by earlier generations gone by
in Onitsha

nor

had/has it ever been
the historical traditional
Good Morning greeting in Onitsha
before
the English language Good Morning took over

at which point
i let the matter all alone completely

and

remained
with the

generally-used-by-all-igbo/ibo-language-speakers

Good Morning
Good Afternoon
Good Evening

which is

all really

a rather circumlocutory way
( .. circumlocutory as derivative from circumlocution .. )

of saying :

Salma Paralluelo

Salma Paralluelo

Salma Paralluelo

hey ! Salma baby !
keh-duh ! ( kedu ! ) hi !
Good Morning !

Salma babe, ar-rhu ar de kwoi ?
