sometime back in the day

here in Nigeria, West(ern) Africa, Africa

a Presidential Candidate
i.e
a folk running/contesting for
the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

was asked
during a televised interview
i.e
during a question and answer sort of thing shown on television

the question :

what is the pump price of petrol in Nigeria ?

the gentleman
.. probably late now i.e probably dead by now ??
since it’s been a bit of a while since this happenstance occurred ..

[ – – – i will google to check
if
he is still alive.
i seem to remember his name to be
Alhaji Tofa.
perhaps, Alhaji Ibrahim? Tofa or something along those lines.

the major contestant at the time
i.e
Alhaji M.K.O Abiola
is dead.
his death in prison
close to the time
he was hoped? to be released from prison
made major news headlines
here in Nigeria
and
is therefore not difficult to recall
for those who were old enough to
be aware of happenings in Nigeria at the time.

P.S : Nigeria seemingly? does not teach history
as an independent subject area of study
like mathematics or english in
Nigeria primary schools
and
Nigeria Secondary Schools

so
the generations of Nigerians born after
that period in time

may not be aware of
the existence of
folks like

Alhaji M.K.O Abiola

or

of
his impact
on many areas of Nigeria
e.g

journalism ( Concord Newspapers ),

Aviation Industry ( Concord Airlines ),

Football and Sports ( Abiola Babes Football Club ),

his recognition as Pillar of Sports in Nigeria and Africa?,

his great dynamism in enterprise and business
( e.g
Abiola Bookshops,
ITT – a USA? telecommunications company that
had office in Nigeria
and
for which he became
the Chairman
not only for Nigeria
but also for
the entire Africa
and
the entire Middle East
combined together ),

his gallantry and large hearted-ness as a philanthropist
and
his contributions to many worthwhile charitable causes, etc )

whatever.

in any case,
back to the subject of the question :

what is the pump price of petrol in Nigeria ?

the gentleman replied
very honestly
that
he didn’t know what it was.

and
the Nigeria Press
and
the Nigeria Media
went to town with the news that
a Presidential Aspirant did not know the Pump Price of Petrol in Nigeria.

at a guess,
the hullabaloo
that
the Nigeria Press
and
the Nigeria Media
made about his response
impacted on
his chances.

personally,
at the time,
i felt that
he had been unlucky
because
i personally did not know what the pump price of petrol in Nigeria was at the time

ALTHOUGH
I KNEW
VERY CLEARLY
HOW MUCH

NIGERIA PETROL STATIONS
i.e
NIGERIA GASOLINE STATIONS
i.e
NIGERIA GAS STATIONS

WERE SELLING ONE LITRE OF FUEL/PETROL/GASOLINE
AT THE TIME

WHICH AS IT TURNED OUT

WAS WHAT
THE QUESTIONER HAD MEANT
BY, WITH AND IN
HIS QUESTION.

the way the question sounded
and
the way the question was phrased
it had seemed

to me

that

the Questioner meant

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST NIGERIA
TO DRILL PETROLEUM
OUT FROM
DEEP IN THE GROUND
AND
DEEP UNDER THE WATERS
AND
REFINE THE DRILLED PETROLEUM
INTO PETROL/GASOLINE
FOR CONSUMPTION BY THE NIGERIA PUBLIC ??

and
this perception of mine
was bolstered
( .. at least in my own opinion at the time .. )
by the reality that

the
general phrasing
regarding costs/prices of fuel/gasoline/petrol in Nigeria

at the time was :

HOW MUCH
ARE
THEY SELLING ONE LITRE OF FUEL / PETROL
AT THE PETROL STATION ?

which,
i guess,
as a question
is easily understood
by everyone
ESPECIALLY IN
PERIODS OF FUEL / PETROL / GASOLINE SCARCITY

WHICH
IS USUALLY / WAS USUALLY
THE PERIOD
WHEN PRICES MAY?? GO UP?? ONE WAY OR THE OTHER
( .. because of the scarcity .. )

AND
WHICH
IS USUALLY / WAS USUALLY
THE PERIOD
WHEN FOLKS MAY NEED TO KNOW PETROL STATION PETROL / GASOLINE /FUEL PRICES

SINCE OUTSIDE OF SUCH ONE-OFF PERIODS

THE PRICE OF FUEL / PETROL / GASOLINE
AT
THE PETROL STATION/ FUEL STATION / GAS STATION / GASOLINE STATION

IS STABLE
AND
KNOWN TO EVERYONE
WHO NEEDS / NEEDED TO BUY FUEL / GASOLINE / PETROL

BACK IN THE DAY here in Nigeria

as well as

HISTORICALLY here in Nigeria

and

USUALLY, NORMALLY here in Nigeria.

whatever.

in any case,
perhaps i was wrong in my perception of
the happenstances at the time

and maybe

the Presidential Aspirant / Presidential Candidate
did in fact understand the question correctly
as put across
and intended by the Questioner
and
just didn’t know the answer to the question
at the time it was asked.

whatever.

so much for
questions
which may not be understood the same way
by everyone.

and now
to the subject matter of this post,
namely :

among the vast array of images / imagery
in the international public space
of folks at the fuel station / petrol station,
whose imagery is the greatest of all time ?

(1.1) was .. is .. are .. the images / imagery of
MORIAH MILLS
at the fuel station / petrol station
the greatest of all time ?

(1.2) was .. is .. are .. the images / imagery of

at the fuel station / petrol station
the greatest of all time ?

SEGOS PUMPKIN a.k.a RESEGO TSHABADIRA
at the fuel station / petrol station
