it is my own personal view
( and i
guess i am entitled to my views
just as everyone else is
entitled to their own views )
that

inspite of and despite
all these things
NIGERIA RESIDENTS
are
saying about

STRIPPER or no STRIPPER,

PORN ACTOR / ACTRESS / STAR
or
no PORN ACTOR / ACTRESS / STAR

INFLUENCER? or no INFLUENCER?,

it looks like,
IN REAL TERMS,
and
IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS,

for most of the population here in Nigeria,

THE SOCIAL ACCEPTABILITY of a PERSON

and
ANY OTHER ACCEPTABILITY of a PERSON

as well as

THE SOCIAL RESPECTABILITY conferred on a PERSON

and
ANY OTHER RESPECTABILITY conferred on a PERSON

is essentially a function of :

HOW MUCH MONEY THE PERSON EARNS,

HOW MUCH MONEY THE PERSON CAN EARN,

HOW MUCH MONEY THE PERSON HAS,

HOW MUCH MONEY THE PERSON COMMANDS

HOW MUCH MONEY THE PERSON HAS ACCESS TO

WHETHER OR NOT A PERSON CAN PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE

HOW WELL OR NOT A PERSON CAN PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE

WHETHER OR NOT A PERSON CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF i.e SUPPORT DEPENDANTS

HOW WELL OR NOT A PERSON CAN MEET THE NEEDS OF i.e SUPPORT DEPENDANTS

irrespective of
ANY OTHER PRETENCES?
and
ALL OTHER CURRENT AND HISTORICAL PRETENCES?
of
Nigeria People and Nigeria Residents to the contrary.

yeah.

regarding the general values of Nigeria citizens and Nigeria residents,
back in the day here in Nigeria in the 1970s
folks used to seem to have

opinions,
airs,
attitudes
and maybe also? finite? value systems ?

i mean, for example,
a discussion could be going on
and
the topic would shift to a person

and someone would say of that person,
for example :

oh ! he/she has 4 cars now.
he/she just bought a new car yesterday.

or something like :

he/she has built 3 houses now.
he/she invited people to an opening ceremony for the latest one
just this last Saturday i.e this Saturday just gone by.

and some folks would say
.. in a rather superior manner? ..

“ what does he/she do for a living ? ”
“ how
does he/she get all that money ? ”
“ what
does he/she do to get all that money ? ”

●● this ( i.e the 1970s ) was a period when
parents and guardians
advised their children and wards
to study
professional courses

meaning specifically to study

Medicine & Surgery
Engineering .. if you were essentially more mathematically inclined
Law .. if you were arts inclined

or
any course close to them
if they could not get directly into those courses

e.g
Biochemistry, Microbiology, etc,
for those wanting to study Medicine & Surgery
but were not able to get admission to study Medicine & Surgery

Physics, Mathematics, etc
for those wanting to study Engineering
but were not able to get admission to study Engineering

Political Science, History, etc
for those wanting to study Law
but were not able to get admission to study Law

●● at that period i.e in the 1970s,
it sort of seemed as if
students were
generally advised to opt for the sciences over the arts

and
any student
who had any sort of ability to cope with the sciences
was
in the absence of extenuating circumstances →→→

( e.g his parent or guardian may be a lawyer
and
want him/her to study law
so that
he/she can take over the running of the law chambers in the future )

→→→ generally seemed to be sort of
strongly advised
to
go for the sciences rather than for the arts.

●● at this period
University graduates and Polytechnic graduands
often used to select
which one of any number of
… sometimes as many as 5 or 6 jobs
they were offered
that they would like to do.

●● and it was common place
for a fresh University graduate or Polytechnic graduate
to buy a brand new car

.. usually the french Peugeot 504 then ..

Peugeot 504 Anniversary

within a few months of securing a job
probably with
some aid such as a car loan
from the outfit he/she is/was employed by.

●● this was a period when Nigeria residents used to say that :

“ A GOOD NAME IS BETTER THAN MONEY ”

“ A GOOD NAME IS WORTH IT’S WEIGHT IN GOLD ”

one is not quite sure that
they still feel the same way today 2021
in the after-math of the
economic sufferings and related deprivations and pains
that they
have gone through
and have
been going through
since
the
continuing devaluation of the National Currency ( the Naira )
began in 1989
