i had just picked up the phone
specifically for the purpose of checking if the battery level reading
had gone so low as for the phone to require charging when

one of the notifications on the phone caught my attention.

it was a notification from the Opera News Nigeria app.

and it bore worrisome information.

it sort of screamed? :

those words were worrisome enough
… at least to me anyway …
to make me hold up a bit
and then click on the notification to see what this is/was about.

persons of my own tribe, viz : the Igbo tribe ( Ibo tribe )
have encountered unfavourable scenarios ( scenaria )
for utterances they made

.. and which they believed were right regarding its’ contents ..

either in writing or speech or both.

after reading the post, i typed in a response

not being sure if a Professor located in the USA would be familiar with
the Nigeria Opera News app or currently use it

i then headed over to the Professor‘s page at Twitter.

there,
while being very conscious that
the greater majority of Twitter Users worldwide are
probably not familiar with
the writing and reading of the Igbo/Ibo language,

i, all the same, typed in some comments in the ibo/igbo language
the objective being for her
.. if she ever reads the tweets ..
to perceive that
this tweeter is familiar with the igbo/ibo language
and
thus perhaps also with igbo/ibo history and culture

and
is not taking a divergent view from hers because
the tweeter is

anti–igbo / anti–ibo or anti–black
but
rather because
the tweeter views the issues from a differing perspective.

for the purposes of this post at this blog,
i have attempted a translation
of each tweet into the english language,

an exercise which
the constraints of
space and format / mode of presentation
would have,
in my view,
rendered
cumbersome, ardous and tiresome
if done at Twitter.

PLEASE NOTE : the book mentioned in the tweet above is banned in Nigeria. it was banned when it was published in 1970?. according to rumours, it is still banned till date September 2022. it is not clear from the rumours if the ban on the book includes banning a mention of the book on a non-Nigerian social media app ( Twitter ) headquartered in the U.S.A in a tweet via the app to a person resident in U.S.A. immediately it becomes clear to us that the ban extends to banning a mention of the book on a non-Nigerian social media app ( Twitter ) headquartered in the U.S.A in a tweet via the app to a person resident in U.S.A, the portion of the above screen-shot mentioning the book will be blotted out.

in the process of typing in the tweets
the day began to go it’s own way
and
matters of the day arose that required
time, attention and concentration

causing me not to follow the discourse as closely
as i would have wished to.

by the time i eventually returned to the phone
hours later,
as my memory serves,
the first thing i saw this time

was yet another notification from Opera News Nigeria.

this time,
the notification bore the legend :

what i wrote there in my comments,
perhaps in not as many words,

? Lesbianism .. just like Homo-sexualism and Bi-sexualism .. is an individual proclivity

? the issue being discussed is not the Sexual Proclivities of individuals

? the issue being discussed is the tweet by the learned Professor

one notification there

actually accused the Professor soiling Nigeria‘s image.

.. be it a mobile phone or a desk top or a laptop or whatever ..
to type something
in regards to it

in the view of this writer
it would probably require a dedicated effort
